Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I take part this year?

  • Register for a walk nearest you or for the virtual walk.

  • Participants over the age of 12 must pay a registration fee of $45.00.

  • You can register as an individual or as a team. (please note, each team member must pay the registration fee)

  • Create your fundraising page and reach out to your network to pledge you. Every dollar counts!

  • Join us on the event day either in person or virtually. Come together for an inspiring event that celebrates our commitment to helping Canadians impacted by lung cancer.

2. What if I cannot afford the $45.00 registration fee, can I still participate?

  • At Lung Cancer Canda we aim to ensure everyone can participate. if you have any concerns with the $45.00 registration fee, please contact events@lungcancercanada.ca.

3. Do I have to raise money to participate?

  • While we do encourage raising funds, it is not mandatory. Give a Breath 5k is Canada’s premier fundraising event in support of lung cancer. When you register, you send a message of hope to the more than 31,000 people diagnosed each year. When you fundraise, you promise them that help will always be available.

4. Are children able to participate?

  • Yes, everyone is welcome to join. Give a Breath is not only about raising funds but building a community of support as well. Children over the age of 12yrs are asked to pay the $45.00 registration fee. 

5. What do I receive with my $45.00 registration fee?

  • You will be provided a participant bib with your run number, a Give a Breath 5k gift bag as well as the opportunity to participate in Canada’s premier fundraising event for lung cancer.

  • Please note, official tax receipts are not provided for the $45.00 registration fee based on the Canada Revenue Agency guidelines.  Fundraising events - issuing receipts - Canada.ca

  • Donations, in the amount of $20.00 and up will receive an official tax receipt from Lung Cancer Canada.

6. Will my sponsors receive a tax receipt?

  • Yes! If they made a donation online, they will receive an automatically generated e-receipt. If they made a donation by cash or cheque, they will receive a tax receipt from Lung Cancer Canada, once the event has been completed.

7. Are pets allowed to join the event?

  • Pets must be accompanied at all times and must be on a leash. Please ensure to follow the park rules in regard to animals on site.

8. What if I cannot run, am I able to still participate?

  • The event is much more than the run itself. Participants are welcome to walk, run, jog at whatever pace you are comfortable with. If you would prefer not to do the run/ walk, you are welcome to remain at the event headquarters and cheer on the other participants. 

9. Can I volunteer for the event in my community?

  • Yes, we are always looking for volunteers. If you are a student and need volunteer hours or a community member looking to support those impacted by lung cancer, we welcome you to connect with our event coordinator to learn more about ways to volunteer.
